Please read the following scriptures before reading the revelation God gave me.
The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was. Exodus 20:21
….even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139:12
Clouds and thick darkness surround him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. Psalm 97:2
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Genesis 1:2
He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet. He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind. He made darkness his canopy around him— the dark rain clouds of the sky.2 Samuel 22:10-12
And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. Isaiah 45:3
In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see. Isaiah 29:18
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6
Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.” Luke 22:52-53
After reading the above scripture have you got it? Every verse refers to darkness. What interested me is this that God is in the darkness. Can you imagine that? If you are going through a separation, a divorce, a loss of a loved one redundancy, you may be diagnosed with a serious fatal illness whatever the period of darkness I have good news for you it is only for a season like Luke 22: 52-53 says.
In every one of those scriptures God seems to be in the centre of the darkness what an amazing revelation, you and I not alone in the dark periods of lie. God does His best work in darkness.
I have many opportunities to minister to hurting people going through dark periods in life and having gone through similar what I am confident to say today is that darkness has a time limit to it and will not be allowed to rule your life for long. Within this period of darkness there are lessons to be learned, is the Lord trying to get your attention in a way that He hasn’t be able to before? When Jesus said … “this is your hour – when darkness reigns it became a turning point in history of mankind. When darkness is allowed to reign in our lives for a period it turns our lives around to what would be life transforming, history making moments.
Before the Lord ever does anything new in our lives He surrounds us with darkness. How can I say this? When I look back on my life’s journey it has been so evident to me. But take a look at the womb before giving birth the child is grown in the darkness of the womb, Before Jesus won the victory on the cross darkness surround the land. Take a seed sown into the ground, it is put into the dark soil under the ground. It begins to grow in darkness and push out to into the light and becomes something of worth an awesome plant and eventually a tree with fruit that will bless many. Remember Paul and Silas sang in the depths of a dark prison which caused an earthquake that brought change and transformation including salvations. Genesis 1:2 starts off by telling us that before God remade the earth darkness seemed to prevail for a time.
I want to encourage you to day if you are faced with darkness that is crushing you or the lights seem to have gone off in your life, or if you seem to be in an endless dark tunnel of darkness, there is hope. God is right with you. He may have allowed darkness to rule for a season but your not alone. As you wait on Him ask Him for revelation of what this dark time means. Remember God is doing His best work on you in this period of DARKNESS. I can honestly say the dark times I have gone through in life have been hard and difficult but as I have come out of them they have made me who I am today and God has done His best work on me making something new. God about to do something new in your life so He is causing you to notice the darkness around you cry out to Him so will complete His best work within you during this time.
