Detours – Don’t take them – Luke 2:6-7

Two days ago I shared that God was in control of everything. Now if that’s the case you would think that He surely could have organized a room to be available in the inn for Joseph and Mary. Yes, He definitely could have. God could have organized Jesus to be born into a wealthy family. He could have turned stone into bread in the wilderness. He could have called 10,000 angels to His aid in Gethsemane. He could have come down from the cross and saved Himself. So why didn’t He?

The question is not what God could do but what His will to do was. God’s will was that though Christ was rich, yet for your sake He became poor. The “No vacancy” signs over all the hotels in Bethlehem were for your sake. “For your sake He became poor.” God rules all things–even hotel capacities, for the sake of His children. The road to Salvation begins with a no vacancy sign in Bethlehem a dead end and ends with a dead end at the Cross which Jesus turned around for us.

Today if you feel you are at a dead end know this your resurrection is very close. Allow yourself to die to the Cross of Jesus so you can rise with Him. Sometimes the road we asked to travel on maybe hard and lonely. However there is a plan and a purpose. Yes, God could have seen to it that Joseph, Mary and Jesus had a room at His birth. But that would have been a detour off the Calvary road. Be careful not to take a detour it can cause you to lose your way. God is in Control!
