Job 10:12 “Thou has granted me life and favour and Thy visitation hath preserved my spirit”.
I love this scripture. It has a wealth of information for us. God has granted me life and favour through the cross of Jesus Christ my Lord. When I am aware of what the Lord has done for me I will experience His Life and Favour. I learned very late in life that the more I am aware of the Lord, His presence, His truths, His promises, His favour is activated more in my life. If I walk in ignorance of what He has done I will not experience all that He has made available for me.
The Hebrew word for “preserved” in this scripture is Shamar which means to guard, keep safe, protect, body guard, watch over or care for. When God asked Adam to tend and keep the garden you will find that the same word Shamar was used. God commanded the people to guard the covenant and every time He said that the word Shamar was used. Deuteronomy 28:9- “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways.”
In Job 10 we see that God granted life and favour to that man Job and that the Lord’s visitation had preserved (shamared) Job’s spirit. This is why it is important that God’s visitation on our lives should be a daily occurrence. Every time you and I have a visitation from God in the form of His Word as we read the Bible, a message, or some kind of revelation or even an encounter whilst we worship causes us to experience His life and favour which leads to our spirit’s being preserved.
What does preserving your spirit mean? Everything to do with your destiny, your future, your mind, your very life is guarded, kept safe and protected by the Lord. In other words, God shamar’s your spirit through that visitation.
What I have experienced is that every time I encounter a visitation from the Lord, He releases revelation and I am aligned to greater plans and purposes in Him. This propels me closer into fulfilling my prophetic destiny, and I seem to gain more ground than I ever did in the spheres of life I am involved in.
We must be careful not to miss His visitation though. In Luke 19 you clearly see that Israel missed Jesus visitation and as a result, negativity was the outcome. How many nations were so wrapped up in their own agenda’s that when the Lord’s visitation arrived they did not recognize it. God’s longs that we personally, corporately and nationally do not miss His visitation.
As we seek a visitation from the Lord, He will shamar His plans and purposes for our lives thereby securing our destinies.
